The short version. Your logs live on your phone and in your own iCloud account. Your location never leaves the device. LivF reads from Apple Health and never writes to it. Health data is never used for advertising and is never sold. The parts that need a server — the coach, photo meal estimates and food lookups — are described in full below.
LivF is an independent app built and operated by its founder, contactable at support@livfapp.com. If you are in the EU or UK, this is the data controller for the purposes of the GDPR.
Some things are deliberately never transmitted anywhere:
With your permission, LivF reads data from Apple Health — principally your steps and active energy — so that you do not have to enter figures your phone already has.
Food entries, workouts, weight and body measurements, plans, photos you attach, and your social content are stored on your device and synced through Apple iCloud (CloudKit) in your own iCloud account. This sync is handled by Apple under Apple's privacy terms. Content you choose to publish — posts, comments, profile details — is shared with the other users you have published it to.
Two features require sending data off the device to be processed:
These providers are OpenAI, Anthropic and Google, depending on the feature. They process the data to return a result. This only happens when you use those features.
When you scan a barcode or search for a food, LivF queries public reference databases. These receive the search term or barcode — not your identity or your logs:
| Service | Purpose | What it receives |
|---|---|---|
| Open Food Facts | Packaged food and barcode lookup | The barcode or search term |
| USDA FoodData Central | Nutrition reference data | The search term |
| NIH Dietary Supplement Label Database | Supplement reference data | The search term |
LivF asks for the camera to photograph meals, scan barcodes and count reps; the photo library so you can attach an existing picture; and the microphone for voice logging and voice messages. Nothing is captured or read until you actively use that feature, and nothing is uploaded until you choose a specific item.
LivF is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has provided information, contact us and it will be deleted.
You can access, correct, export or delete your data. Most of it is on your device and in your iCloud account, so deleting the app and removing its iCloud data removes it. For anything else, or to exercise rights under the GDPR, UK GDPR or CCPA — including access, portability, erasure, and objection to processing — contact us at support@livfapp.com. We do not sell personal information, so there is nothing to opt out of on that front.
Your logs are kept for as long as you keep the app installed and choose to keep them. Coach conversations sent for processing are retained by the AI providers under their own policies. Deleting your account removes the content you published.
LivF is a fitness and wellbeing app. It describes what you have logged and what it implies for the days ahead. It does not diagnose, treat or prevent any condition, and it is not a substitute for a qualified professional.
If this policy changes materially you will be told in the app before the change takes effect. The date at the top always reflects the current version.
